Opticis optical extension M2-10S-20 links an USB signal up to 68feet (20 meters) without any repeater. They provide the simplest way to link an USB device far from the host. Owing to the advanced VCSEL and PD, USB protocol could be maintained over such a long-distance connection with cost effectiveness. The modules have a pair of optical-to-electrical and electrical-to-optical converters at each end, connected by 2 stranded fiber-optic cables.
Designed specifically for Sun Solaris (and Solaris with Sun Unix, HP Unix operating systems) with the special Solaris USB timing considerations - no software or drivers required.
The M2-10S allows the Solaris System operators to locate USB V1.1 peripherals up to 68 feet (20 meters) from the Solaris processor with a simple and easy to install point-to-point USB cable. Works fine on all USB 2.0 host system ports as well for USB 1.1 and 1.0 devices.
With an upstream Type A-plug and downstream Type A-receptacle, it is a plug n' play connection that has the USB camera, scanner, or printer online and running almost immediately. There is no special software required - the cable emulates a generic USB hub in the Operating System: Designed specifically for Sun Solaris (and Solaris with Sun Unix, HP Unix operating systems) with the special Solaris USB timing considerations - no software or drivers required.
The cable extension consists of two optical fibers that provide not only extension, but RFI/EMI immunity (optical data signal and power isolation - standard ... benefits that are significant in industrial environments).
