FireNEX-80G USB 3.2 Fiber Extension System | Up to 8 Devices • 80Gbps • 700m

Expandable USB 3.2 fiber extension system: 1 PCIe local + up to 4 remotes (2× USB-A each). Up to 8 devices, 80Gbps total, 700m max.

Newnex FireNEX™-80G is a modular USB 3.2 extension system over fiber built for environments where you need multiple high-speed USB devices far from the host PC without the usual copper limitations and EMI headaches.

How the system works

  • One Local Unit installs in the host computer via PCIe Gen3 x8 and provides up to four fiber links.
  • It pairs with up to four Remote Units, each Remote providing two USB-A ports supporting up to USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) per port.
  • With all four remotes installed, the system can run up to eight USB 10Gbps devices simultaneously, with up to 80Gbps total system bandwidth (aggregate across remotes).

Distance depends on USB speed (important)

Maximum extension range varies by negotiated USB speed:

  • USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps): up to 300m (980 ft)
  • USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps): up to 700m (2,300 ft)

Designed for industrial reliability

Remote Units use metal enclosures, include mounting provisions, and feature USB3 Vision compliant screw-locking ports for more reliable cabling in industrial and machine vision deployments.

Operational note (don’t skip this)

This is a system-style extender, not a casual dongle. After initial setup, disconnecting fiber or powering off a remote unit may require rebooting the host PC. Plan your installation accordingly.

Key advantages

Build a System, Not a Single Link

Start with one remote and expand up to four remotes as your device count grows.

Long Distance with Real Throughput

Support up to 700m at 5Gbps or 300m at 10Gbps depending on device speed negotiation.

Eight Devices, One Host PC

With four remotes, run up to eight USB 10Gbps devices simultaneously with high aggregate bandwidth.

Industrial-Grade Reliability

Metal housings, mounting provisions, and locking ports reduce downtime from vibration and cable stress.

EMI Immunity Over Fiber

Fiber transport helps avoid interference issues that break long copper USB runs in industrial spaces.

Legacy-Friendly

Backward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 devices for mixed-speed deployments.

Feature highlights

  • Extend USB 3.2 / 2.0 / 1.1 over single-mode fiber up to 700m
  • Supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) and USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps)
  • Backward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 devices (keyboards, mice, microphones, control devices)
  • Each Remote Unit:
  • 2× USB-A (up to 10Gbps)
  • 20Gbps total bandwidth shared across its two ports
  • 5V / 1.5A per USB port
  • One Local Unit supports up to 4 Remote Units (up to 8 devices total)
  • Local Unit includes standard + low-profile PCIe brackets for workstation and server chassis
  • Metal enclosures help with EMI protection and industrial durability
  • Remote Units include surface mounting holes for secure installation
  • USB3 Vision compliant screw-locking ports
  • OS support: Windows, Linux, macOS (per product summary)
