The Opticis KVMX-100-TR is a dual-head DVI optical KVM extender that carries two single-link DVI channels, USB HID (keyboard/mouse), RS-232, and bi-directional stereo audio over fiber.
Its defining trick is the built-in 2:1 KVM switch function: connect two PCs as hosts and select which one you control from either the local or remote side (video is still delivered to both local and remote displays). It’s designed for environments where the computers belong in a rack room, but the operator belongs somewhere quieter.
For distance, it supports:
- Up to 1.0 km (3,280 ft) over two (2) duplex LC single-mode fibers
- Up to 300 m (985 ft) over two (2) duplex LC multi-mode fibers
To simplify setup across mixed displays, it includes Auto-mix EDID programming, reading both local and remote display EDIDs and selecting the lowest common resolution for stable operation.
