The Unibrain Glass Optical Fiber (GOF) Repeater 800 is a FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b) fiber optic repeater designed to extend S800 (800 Mbps) 1394b data transmission over long distances using glass optical fiber (GOF).
Capable of extending FireWire connections up to 550 meters, the GOF Repeater 800 enables reliable long-distance connectivity for broadcast systems, industrial equipment, scientific instrumentation, and legacy professional AV environments where FireWire remains a critical interface.
The repeater is built around the Texas Instruments TSB81BA3D, the latest revision of the 1394b PHY, ensuring stable performance, full backward compatibility, and reliable operation across mixed 1394a and 1394b systems. Each unit includes two bilingual copper FireWire ports and one LC optical fiber port, allowing seamless transitions between copper and fiber segments.
Housed in a galvanized steel enclosure with polyester powder coating, the GOF Repeater 800 provides excellent durability, EMI resistance, and thermal performance in demanding environments. It supports full-duplex operation, automatic speed negotiation, and operates transparently with Windows, macOS, and Linux systems.
